The Institute of Science of Mind, affiliated with the Council for Buddhist University under Central Monastic Body, was estab lished on October 11, 2014 with the aim of promoting intellectual Buddhist studies and developing a distinguished centre for re search in Buddhism and philosophy.

The Institute of Science of Mind is dedicated to nurturing inner peace among students through the study of Bhutan’s rich cultural heritage and the profound teachings of Buddhist philosophy. We strive to uphold and promote the nation’s sovereignty, the Dz ongkha language, and the preservation of our unique cultural identity. Our mission further emphasizes fostering ethical values in students and inspiring them to serve Tsa-wa-Sum with integri ty, thereby contributing to the realization of the nation’s vision of Gross National Happiness.
EXPECTED OUTCOMES
The expectations from the graduates are:
- Students will be able to understand the importance of learning Buddha Dharma.
- Students will be able to distinguish the good qualities and faults of mind.
- Students will have adequate knowledge of the tradition and heritage of Bhutan.
- Students will be able to teach Buddhist texts.
- Learners will be competent in both reading and writing in Dzongkha and English.
- Students can make perfect distinction between truth and falsehood by relying on the knowledge of Buddhist Epis temology.
- Learners will be taught to uplift the moral values and eth ics such as to be obedient to elders and affectionate to younger ones.
- Students will be able to explain the origin of Buddha Dhar ma.
- Students can conduct research work in both Dzongkha and -3 English languages.
- Students will be able to practice Buddhist meditations on their own.
- Students will be able to opt for teaching professions in En glish language
- Students will have ICT skills in both Dzongkha and En glish contexts.
- The essence of Driglam Namzha will be acquired by the learners.
- Students will get skills to translate from Dzongkha to En glish and vice versa.
